Author Seeking Information on Barn Fires
Cleveland, Ohio – February 13, 2002
Laurie Loveman, author of three novels with firefighting and horses as integral parts of the stories, is in the process of collecting information for a book she is writing on fire safety in horse barns. By print and internet, Loveman is requesting information from firefighters who have battled horse barn fires and from horse owners and facility managers who have suffered the loss of horses and/or property from fire. She feels that in addition to technical and practical information, horse owners and firefighters will get a better understanding of fire safety in horse barns and in the expedient means of evacuating horses by learning first hand about the experiences of people who have had to deal with the situation.
In addition to writing the books in the Firehouse Family series, Loveman is an officer in the Highland Hills (OH) Fire Department and consults on equine facility fire safety. She is a state-certified fire inspector and has a B.S. Degree in Fire and Safety Engineering Technology from the University of Cincinnati. With over forty year's experience in the horse industry and nearly twenty in the fire service, she has written many articles for equine and fire service publications.
